* Robinson FFA Agricultural Science Teacher (AST) is honored with Texas A&M Award !!!
Mr. Mark Rose, Robinson FFA Advisor, has been honored by Texas A & M University by being nominated, selected, and presented with the Texas A&M University President’s “Inspiration Award for Exceptional Secondary Education”.
Texas A&M University established the “Inspiration Award for Exceptional Secondary Education” to honor a Texas high school teacher who made a significant impact on a Texas A&M graduate. Each Texas A&M graduate was able to nominate one high school teacher who challenged him/her to excel at the collegiate level and beyond. Nominations were accepted from undergraduate and graduate students who were graduating this 2011 school year. A committee was appointed by the Student Body President to review the nominees and made the selection.
As a former Robinson High School student of Mr. Mark Rose and as a Texas A&M graduating student, Shauna Luna nominated Mr. Rose for consideration of this great honor. From a very large pool of excellent nominations, the Selection Committee chose Mr. Rose’s nomination as the “most outstanding” nomination.
Mr. Rose was presented the award during the Texas A&M Commencement Ceremony held on Friday, May 13, 2011. Mr. Rose enjoyed a luncheon with Dr. R. Bowen Loftin, President of Texas A&M University. After the luncheon, Mr. Rose was escorted and seated on the graduation stage. During the Commencement Ceremony, he was called to the front of the stage where Dr. Loftin presented Mr. Rose his award. During the awarding of the graduate’s diplomas, Mr. Rose had the honor of presenting Ms. Shauna Luna her graduation diploma.
As the person selected for the Texas A&M “Inspiration Award for Exceptional Secondary Education”, Mr. Rose received a check in the amount of $2,000 and a certificate. In addition, Robinson High School, where Mr. Rose taught the nominating student, received a check in the amount of $1,000.
Congratulations Mr. Mark Rose on being honored with this prestigious award. It is well deserved.
