I. OFFICER ELECTIONS
A. The chapter officers will be composed of seven (7) active members and will carry out the official business of the chapter. Offices will include a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Sentinel, Treasurer, Reporter, and Historian.
B. Chapter officers must make application to be on the officer team. The applications must be submitted to the advisor(s) by stated date.
C. Officers will be voted upon by Robinson FFA members listed on the current year’s official FFA roster.
D. The elected officers of the Robinson FFA Chapter/Texas Association of Future Farmers of America shall be selected by submitting application by the date set by the FFA Advisor. Each of these candidates will:
1. Demonstrate FFA, agricultural education, parliamentary procedure and agricultural industry knowledge via a written exam.
2. Present their qualifications to an Interview committee consisting of one (1) RISD staff and two (2) industry persons for ranking on a date and time specified by the advisor(s).
3. Candidates must appear before the Robinson FFA Chapter members and deliver a campaign speech. Candidates will then be voted on by the current membership of the Robinson FFA Chapter.
E. The exam will count as 30%. The interview evaluation will count as 30%. The popular vote will count as 40%.
1. Example – Candidate A
Exam: 100 x 30% = 30.0
Interview: 8 x 30% = 2.4
Vote: 50 x 40% = 20.0
Total = 52.4
Candidate B
Exam: 90 x 30% = 27.0
Interview: 6 x 30% = 1.8
Vote: 75 x 40% = 30.
Total = 58.8
In the example, Candidate B would secure the spot as President on the officer
team by scoring the most points. Candidate A would be Vice President.
F. To run for the offices of President or Vice President, candidates must be of Sophomore or Junior status and have at least one year of FFA officer experience at the time of application. In the event there are not enough junior or senior candidates running for office, then the offices will be filled according to the candidate’s scores.
G. The incoming Jr. or Sr. candidate that receives the highest combined score from the exam, the interview and the popular vote will attain the office of President. The second highest scoring incoming Jr. or Sr. will become Vice President. The next highest scoring candidate will be Secretary. The next highest scoring candidate will be Treasurer. The next highest scoring candidate will be Reporter. The next highest scoring candidate will be Sentinel. The next highest scoring candidate will be Historian.
H. In case of a tie, the interview ranking will determine the outcome between/among the candidates involved in the tie.
I. In the event that the exact number of qualified candidates applies to be Officers, then those individuals will obtain offices according to their combined total of test score, interview and popular vote as described in Section I, Letter E.
II. OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS
A. All officer candidates are to know and agree to abide by the FFA Code of Ethics.
B. All officer candidates are to have knowledge of The Mission and Strategies of the FFA Organization.
C. All officer candidates are to have a commendable citizenship and conduct records.
D. All officer candidates shall have their official FFA dues paid.
E. Officer candidates shall meet the following respective scholastic requirements:
a. Chapter officer candidates must have an average of “B” or better in past Agricultural Science Courses and have an overall average of “B” or better in courses taken the semester immediately preceding officer elections.
F. All officer candidates are to be enrolled in a Robinson High School Agriculture class during their officer tenure and have a sincere desire to carry out the duties of the office to which they are elected.
G. All officers must agree to abide by the FFA Officer Rules as created each year by the Chapter Executive Committee and sign a statement agreeing to abide by them.
H. Officer candidates must attain the Greenhand degree to apply for office.
I. Officers are to carry out their duties outlined in the Official FFA Manual, and as assigned by the President and approved by the Advisor(s).
III. TERM OF OFFICE
A. The terms of office shall be for one year, beginning June 1st of the current school year until May 31st of the following school year.
B. Current officers are required to attend the Texas FFA Convention.
IV. REMOVAL FROM OFFICE
The privilege of representing Robinson FFA carries with it a greater responsibility to conduct
oneself with respect and dignity, and to serve as a
role model for all students. Consequently,
FFA officers are expected to
comply with the Extracurricular Code of Conduct at all times, regardless of
location. This includes both on and off-campus
conduct as well as evenings, weekends, holidays,
and summer vacation.
A. Officers are subject to the Robinson ISD Extracurricular Code of Conduct from the time he/she is elected to office.
B. Officers may be removed from office for failing to meet the qualifications stated in the Constitution.
B. Officers must meet the same qualifications for holding office the second school semester as they did when elected; otherwise their term of office will expire.
C. An officer will be entitled to a full and impartial review and hearing by the executive committee. They may be temporarily or permanently dismissed from office. A decision will be based upon the facts.
V. GENERAL PROVISIONS CONCERNING OFFICERS AND MEMBERS
A. Membership may be temporarily or permanently denied for failure to abide by the FFA Code of Ethics outlined in the Official FFA Manual.
VI. OFFICIAL FFA CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES
A. Each individual member takes upon themselves the responsibility of wearing official clothing and accessories with dignity and pride so as not to reflect any bad criticism upon themselves, the school, the FFA Organization, or the Local Chapter.
VII. OFFICIAL FFA AND SCHOOL EQUIPMENT
A. All members will show pride in the FFA Organization in his/her school by properly caring for and using the facility, its equipment, and official paraphernalia in a proper, dignified manner.
VIII. PUBLIC RELATIONS BY INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS
A. Each individual FFA member is to realize that they are a personal representative of the school and FFA Chapter. The image of their school and chapter are reflected through member’s actions and behavior at events participated in and attended by Robinson FFA. If any member(s) behavior endangers other members, jeopardizes the image of Robinson FFA, Robinson ISD, or the National FFA Organization, or the actions deem necessary for the Advisor(s) to contact the perpetrator’(s) parents and Robinson ISD officials, then those members will lose their traveling privileges with Robinson FFA and may require reprimand from school officials. The Advisor(s) and Robinson ISD officials may reinstate traveling privileges at their discretion.
Members may also lose traveling privleges from receiving repeated teacher repremands while at school. These actions could include but not exclusive of: horseplay in the shop or classroom, using foul language or making offensive remarks to other students or teachers.
IX. OBTAINING FFA LETTER JACKET
A. The minimum qualifications for obtaining a FFA Letter Jacket are as follows:
1. Must be a paid FFA member for two years.
2. Must attend six chapter meetings per year.
3. Must sell 25 total fundraiser items per year. (total of 50)
4. Must have an active Supervised Agricultural Experience Program each year and keep an accurate FFA record book reflecting progress.
5. Must be a member of a Program of Activities Committee for two years.
6. Must maintain minimum grade point average of 75.
7. Must participate in one Leadership Development Event or one Career Development Event each year.
8. Must participate in one special chapter activity.
9. Can have no more than two discipline referrals in Ag classes per year.
10. Must have obtained the Chapter Farmer (FFA) Degree outlined in the Official FFA Manual.
11. Members must pay for all patches and additional items added to the jacket.
12. If a member of a state qualifying LDE or CDE team, each member qualifies for a letter jacket.
X. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ROBINSON FFA MEMBERS TO ATTEND THE TEXAS FFA CONVENTION AND/OR THE NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION.
1. Must attend at least five chapter meetings during the year.
2. Must sell at least 15 items in the chapter fundraiser.
3. Must apply for a FFA Degree or award or currently hold a chapter office.
4. Must have an active Supervised Agricultural Experience Program.
5. Must participate in the chapter’s Program of Activities.
6. To attend the National Convention, member must meet the above qualifications as well as attend the Texas FFA Convention.
STANDING RULES:
CDE:
1. Members must sell 15 fundraiser items in order to participate on a CDE team or pay the following fee to be a judging team member:
$75 if zero items are sold
$60 if 1 - 9 items are sold
$50 if 10 - 14 items are sold
Buying into a CDE team does not count towards FFA Convention eligibility.
CONVENTION:
1. Graduating seniors may not attend the Texas FFA Convention unless they are receiving a scholarship, award, or participating in a state level competition.
2. Only current qualifying Junior and Senior Robinson FFA members may attend the National FFA Convention.
FFA BARN:
1. In order to house animals at the FFA barn, your animal must be entered and exhibited as a FFA SAE project, not 4-H.
2. Siblings of Robinson FFA members may house livestock at the FFA barn as long as they are Robinson Jr. FFA members.
3. Jr. FFA members may not house animals at the FFA Barn unless their sibling(s), who are Robinson FFA Members, house animals at the FFA Barn.
